The Verizon Foundation Activates Disaster Relief Program to Assist Colorado Wildfire Victims and Will Match Employee Contributions to American Red Cross and Salvation Army

Verizon Runs to the Crisis to Assist Colorado Wildfire Victims

The Black Forest Wildfire is now the most destructive wildfire in Colorado state history, and residents in the region are struggling to cope with the scale of the tragedy. Fueled by hot temperatures and gusty winds, homes have been destroyed prompting residents northeast of Colorado Springs to evacuate.

The Verizon Foundation has activated the disaster relief program to assist those impacted by Colorado Wildfires.  Help those in need by making a donation to the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army.  The foundation will match 1-to-1 employee online donations (from $25 up to $1,000 per employee).

The foundation's disaster-relief program is open to all of our employees around the world.

To access the disaster-relief program and contribute, Verizon Employees can logon to the Verizon Foundation Matching Gifts site then select the Disaster Relief icon.

Matched donations can also be made to V2V—the new Verizon Employee Relief Fund. This new program was designed to use your donations to exclusively help Verizon employees who cannot live in their homes as the result of significant damage from a personal or natural disaster. Donations can be made online (note: donation website is maintained by Foundation For The Carolinas, the program administrator). For more information about V2V, visit their website

In addition, Verizon Wireless customers can use their mobile phones to make $10 donations to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to support those affected by the wildfires.

• To Donate to American Red Cross Relief: Text REDCROSS to 90999

Verizon Wireless waives text-messaging fees for disaster relief, so text messages are free when used to make donations and 100 percent of each $10 donation goes to the Red Cross. For Verizon Wireless customers who pay monthly bills, the $10 donations will appear on the next regular monthly bill. For customers using the company’s prepaid services, the $10 donation will be taken from customers’ prepaid balances.

Our hearts go out to the employees and communities in Colorado.
