Verizon Foundation Spends the Day at Eva's Village in Paterson, New Jersey

On Monday, December 10th, a team of employees from the Verizon Foundation spent a day at Eva's Village in Paterson, New Jersey where they sorted, bagged and boxed close to 1,000 toys for the holiday season.

"When everything is said and done, we do great things here at the foundation, but until you can look into the eyes of a person who is receiving the help, it's difficult to truly imagine the impact of our giving", said Melody Brown, National Programs Manager of Employee Engagement.

The team also had the opportunity to tour the dining hall where every day over 400 people are served a hot meal by a friendly face and treated with dignity and respect.

Samantha Yakal-Kremski, Philanthropy Program Manager remarked: "Things that we take for granted each day - hot meals, medical care, support from friends and family - are on a growing list of concerns from clients at Eva's Village. The community is lucky to have a place like Eva's where clients can receive the care and guidance they need to get their lives headed in a positive direction."

Eva's Village is a uniquely progressive and comprehensive non-profit social service organization dedicated to fighting homelessness and poverty.
