Frank Kuehn - Leading by Example and Making a Difference in the Lives of Others
Leading by Example and Making a Difference by Sharing Our Sucess to Make Comunities Better
When Frank Kuehn, (pictured, second from left, stands with members of the Long Beach Search and Rescue Unit), Verizon Senior Analyst, was 15 years old he joined the Long Beach Search and Rescue Unit. At that time he couldn’t decide if he wanted to be a policeman or fireman but always enjoyed the public safety field. Now a Reserve Sergeant for over 25 years, Kuehn was recently recognized for his exceptional and ongoing contributions with the 2011 Volunteer Service Award. Kuehn has served the City of Long Branch as a member of the Long Beach Search and Rescue Unit for 29 years and as a Reserve Police Officer for 26 years. In 2011, his combined volunteer hours reached over 900. By participating in the Verizon matching Gifts program, he was able to log his hours and each organization received a $750 grant on behalf of his volunteer time.
“As a life member with Search & Rescue, Frank has served as a mentor and role model for hundreds of young adults who have participated in this program. He readily shares the lessons he has learned as an urban search and rescue specialist, ground searcher, emergency medical technician and ham radio operator with our members to better prepare them to take their places as the leaders of tomorrow. Frank's talents and willingness to respond 24/7 as an emergency services volunteer make him a tremendous asset to the City of Long Beach,” said Bob Kistner Retired Sergeant, Long Beach Police Department and Past Chair, Long Beach Search & Rescue.
Kuehn continues to dedicate his time to teach young men and women about citizenship, responsibility and how to be a leader in the community.
