About the Program

Throughout the year, Verizon employees come together to collectively contribute their time and dollars to further our support for nonprofits and organizations within our key cause areas of education, healthcare and energy management.

Verizon’s annual Shower for the Shelter Collection Drive raises over $545,000 per year in donations benefitting more than 335 local domestic violence agencies across the country. We collected children’s books and toys and personal care items for domestic violence survivors and their families. The Shower for the Shelter Drive also provides employees with a chance to volunteer as part of campaign coordination efforts and to connect engaged employees with local nonprofits working in the domestic violence field.

In 2011, our education-focused Tools for Schools Drive raised over $330,000 in physical and online donations through our partner nonprofit, Donors Choose. The supplies went to benefit over 215 local schools and non-profit educational organizations throughout the country.

In 2012 we will be expanding our Collection Drives to include the areas of healthcare and energy management.
